Overview

How it works

Each day, three classes run simultaneously for approximately 3 hours. Students choose a track based on their interests and preparation level. Every track progresses from foundational concepts to advanced topics over three sessions. All materials — including lecture notes, slides, and problem sets — will be provided in LaTeX-typeset PDFs.

Physics

From Newton's laws to Maxwell's equations — build a rigorous foundation in classical physics and beyond.

  • Session 1: Basic Mechanics — kinematics, Newton's laws, energy, momentum
  • Session 2: Advanced Mechanics — rotational dynamics, oscillations, gravitation
  • Session 3: Electromagnetism — electric fields, circuits, magnetism, induction

Chemistry

Atoms to organic molecules — cover the breadth of chemistry that appears in Science Bowl and science olympiad events.

  • Session 1: Basic Chemistry — atomic structure, bonding, stoichiometry, states of matter
  • Session 2: Advanced Chemistry — thermodynamics, equilibrium, kinetics, electrochemistry
  • Session 3: Organic Chemistry — nomenclature, functional groups, reactions, biochemistry bridges

Biology

From cell biology to the genetic code — understand the living systems that drive Science Bowl questions.

  • Session 1: Basic Biology — cell structure, metabolism, ecology, taxonomy
  • Session 2: Advanced Biology — physiology, evolution, immunology
  • Session 3: Genetics — Mendelian genetics, molecular biology, gene expression, biotechnology

Earth & Space Science

From plate tectonics to stellar evolution — explore the science of our planet and universe.

  • Session 1: Geology — minerals, rocks, plate tectonics, earth structure
  • Session 2: Astronomy — stellar classification, cosmology, planetary science
  • Session 3: Glaciology — ice ages, climate science, glacial landforms

Mixture

A cross-disciplinary track for students who want breadth and direct Science Bowl competition preparation.

  • Session 1: Cross-disciplinary topics and connections between fields
